SSgt Christopher Jackson

Staff Sergeant Christopher Jackson is a bassoonist with United States Air Force Band of Mid-America. In addition to his musical duties, Sergeant Jackson serves as noncommissioned officer in charge of the Midwest Winds Quintet and Drum Major of the Ceremonial Band.

Sergeant Jackson is a native of Atlanta, GA, where he was fortunate to be introduced to the bassoon and study with Dr. Shelly Unger. Later on, Leon Daughrity and Dr. Bruno Paige would also heavily influence and guide his musical development.

Prior to enlisting in the Air Force, Sergeant Jackson received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Eastman School of Music and University of Memphis, respectively. During that time, Sergeant Jackson’s primary bassoon teachers were John Hunt and Lecolion Washington.

As an active freelance musician, Sergeant Jackson has performed with the Rochester Oratorio Society (NY), Memphis Symphony (TN), Eroica Ensemble (TN), Jackson Symphony (TN), and the Westpfälz Symphony Orchestra (Germany).
