SSgt Katherine E. Stites

Staff Sergeant Katherine Stites joined the United States Air Force Academy Band, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, in November 2014. She currently performs with The Academy Winds, the Marching Band and the Concert Band.

Sergeant Stites held positions with the Owensboro Symphony and the Johnson City Symphony and has performed with The Cleveland Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra, Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Manheim Steamroller and Celtic Woman.  Born in Johnson City, TN, she holds her Bachelor of Music degree from Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music and a Master of Music degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of music.  Prior to joining the United States Air Force Academy Band she was pursuing a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Rutgers University.  SSgt Stites has teaching credits at Baldwin Wallace University Conservatory of Music Outreach Department and served as a teaching Assistant at Rutgers University Mason Gross School of the Arts.  She has participated in the Kent/Blossom Music Festival and the Brevard Music Festival.  Her primary teachers include Jeffrey Rathbun, Mark Ostoich, Dwight Parry, and Jonathan Blumenfeld, and she has had additional studies with Nathan Hughes, Frank Rosenwein, and Christopher Philpotts.
