Technical Sergeant Mark Nixon plays principal trumpet with the United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, located at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia. A native of Mount Vernon, OH, Sergeant Nixon is a graduate of Bowling Green State University. He received his Bachelors of Music in music education in 1999 and Masters of Performance in 2001. While pursuing his Master's degree, Sergeant Nixon was the graduate assistant for trumpet where he taught undergraduate trumpet lessons, coached brass quintets, and directed the trumpet ensemble. His primary teachers include Todd Davidson and Dr. Joel Treybig (Belmont School of Music).
His professional performing experience includes the Virginia Symphony, the Richmond Symphony, the Adrian Symphony, and the Lima Symphony (Principal).
As Principal Trumpet with USAF Heritage of America Band he has been featured as soloist on several Concert Band tours. TSgt Nixon can be heard on more than 11 recordings with the USAF Heritage of America Band.
In the summer of 2010, TSgt Nixon deployed to Southwest Asia and provided support for troops and coalition partners while performing 52 shows in 70 days.
