  • Like many around the world, the USAFE Band remains concerned for the safety of Ukraine and its people. We have traveled and performed extensively throughout Ukraine in recent years, building a lasting partnership and numerous friendships that continue today. The strength and resolve demonstrated by the people of Ukraine during this time of military conflict has been nothing short of inspiring.

Joined by our Ukrainian colleagues Olga Zhukova (cello/voice) and Iryna Klimashevska (violin), Lt Col Cristina Moore Urrutia and the USAFE Band present our performance of Taras Petrynenko's "Lord, Have Mercy on Ukraine" ("Господи, помилуй нас".) In this hour of need, we hope that this musical offering brings some sense of solace and comfort to our Ukrainian friends and all those around the world impacted by this conflict.

Lyrics Translation:

Even at the last frontier
The ray of faith in us has not yet gone out,
God save Ukraine,
Lord, have mercy on us.

Show us your omnipotence
The truth is everywhere and always,
God save Ukraine,
Lord, have mercy on us.

Have mercy, Lord,
Have mercy, Lord,
Lord, have mercy on us.

Our souls languish in rust,
But the ray of faith did not go out,
God save Ukraine,
Lord, have mercy on us.

Sinful children are never children of others;
Our Father, hear their sincere voice,
God save Ukraine,
Lord, have mercy on us.

Have mercy, Lord,
Have mercy, Lord,
Lord, have mercy on us.

Have mercy, Lord,
Have mercy, Lord,
Lord, have mercy on us. Lord, Have Mercy on Ukraine
    Lord, Have Mercy on Ukraine
