Two tuba players and a euphonium player recently were honored by the US Army Tradition and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) Band at Fort Monroe with an invitation to perform. SSgt Chris Moore, SSgt John Garcia and MSgt Steve Eklund joined with US Navy tuba players, guest soloists from Morehead State University and the TRADOC Band to close the concert on 'Them Basses' and 'Melody Shop.'

The TRADOC Band performed every Thursday evening during the month of August. The theme of this concert was 'Heavy Metal' and highlighted soloes and ensemble pieces that featured the largest of the brass instruments.

Fort Monroe, home of the TRADOC Band, is just 8 miles from Langley AFB where the USAF Heritage of America Band is located. The bands have cooperated on many occasions. 'It was a real honor,' said SSgt John Garcia. 'The weather was beautiful, it was good to see such a great crowd and, actually, the music was fun, too.'
