3/1/2018 - Washington, D.C. -- The Airmen of Note are picking up steam during this spring, and will be in full “swing” by the time their New England tour begins. You won’t want to miss out, so be sure to check the calendar and get your tickets!

From April 22nd – 30th, the Airmen of Note will give a series of community outreach concerts, beginning in Plaistow, NH, and continuing throughout Massachusetts and Maine for the remainder of the 9-day trip. With a majority of the performances taking place in Maine, the band is excited to show of the skills of bass trombonist and Maine native TSgt Ben Polk, who hails from Greenbush, ME. A member since 2013, Tech. Sgt. Ben Polk says, “I’m really excited and honored to make this trip with the band. It’s an honor to get to play for friends and family I haven’t seen in quite a while as a member of the Airmen of Note.”

3/1/2018 - Washington, D.C. --The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are excited to embark on their Spring Tour this April, with the bulk of scheduled performances in the The Empire State! Although the ten-day tour will begin with a performance in Stamford, Connecticut, the remaining nine days will be spent touring throughout New York State.

The U.S. Air Force Band’s vision uses the power of music to inspire our audiences worldwide, create innovative products and programs, and represent Air Force excellence. This excellence is showcased in the technical prowess and virtuosity required to perform this tour’s musical repertoire. Selections range from classic wind band pieces such as William Schuman’s “Chester” to “A Night at the Opera” featuring the Singing Sergeants in crowd-pleasing arias, and exciting modern works like John Mackey’s “Antique Violence’s,” featuring Principal Trumpet Technical Sergeant Micah Killion, who is pleased to serve as tour soloist.

3/1/2018 - Washington, D.C. -- 2018 marks the centennial of Britain’s Royal Air Force. To commemorate this centennial anniversary, The Central Band of the Royal Air Force and The United States Air Force Band will be joining forces for a series of outreach events, including concerts, aerial demonstrations and honor guard performances honoring the great history of the RAF and its profound partnership with the United States Air Force.

3/1/2018 - Washington, D.C. -- “This March, the U.S. Air Force Band is excited to introduce our new online music video series, entitled "On the Fly." Comprised of short, live-recorded music segments from small groups of musicians throughout the band, “On the Fly” aims to deliver a bit of the concert experience to viewers at home.

Using NPR's Tiny Desk Concert series as a template, ‘On the Fly’ is filmed entirely in-house at our facility on Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, featuring moments of daily rehearsal process, thereby providing an exciting spontaneity to the product that we really believe our audience will enjoy,” said Master Sgt. Emily Wellington, producer of the series. “We are continually working to explore new ways of showcasing the capabilities of our Airmen Musicians, whose job it is to inspire American citizens, honor our servicemen and women, and impact our global community every day. These short video products will reach thousands who may have never been to see an Air Force Band concert. Our hope is that they find the material fun and compelling, and feel more positively associated with our military.”
