The most recent appropriations for the Department of War expired at 11:59 p.m. EST on September 30, 2025. Military personnel will continue in a normal duty status without pay until such time as a continuing resolution or appropriations are passed by Congress and signed into law. Civilian personnel not engaged in excepted activities will be placed in a non-work, non-pay status.

BAND SUPPORT ELIGIBILITY

Band support eligibility is governed by 10 U.S.C. §974 and Department of Defense Instruction 5410.19. The Band may perform at public and civic events, including those that are commercially sponsored, if the event is of general interest or benefit to a local, state, or national community.

Eligible Events, such as:

  • Military, civic, or governmental ceremonies

  • Public concerts and community celebrations

  • Fairs, exhibitions, and similar events

  • Performance must be incidental to the primary event 

  • No extra fee can be charged to attend performance

Non-Eligible Events, those that:

  • Increase business traffic or sales

  • Raise charitable donations

  • Support or promote religious, ideological, or political movements

  • Examples: Christmas parades, worship services, political rallies or fundraisers
     

PERFORMANCE TYPES OFFERED

Patriotic Openers (15–20 minutes)

  • Opens the formal portion of a military, civic, or governmental event

  • Features military and patriotic selections performed prior to the formal presentation of the Colors

  • Event must include the National Anthem

  • Unless the event already includes the Pledge of Allegiance

  • Not included: entertainment music such as dance, cocktail, dinner, or show music

Public Concerts

  • Free and open to the general public

  • Full-length performances in concert halls, outdoor venues, or parades

  • May also take place at fairs, exhibitions, and similar events with admission fees

  • See "Eligible Events” above

HOW TO REQUEST BAND SUPPORT

  • Submit DD Form 2536 at least 60 working days before your event

  • Reference the contract information below to route your form appropriately
