2017 Flash mob is another success at the Gaylord National Resort

There were singers, dancers, smoke, lights and snow; and, of course, the Band - nearly ALL of the Band. Members from all 6 performing flights of the USAF Band collaborated with both traditional Irish dancers and Swing dancers to form a nearly 9 minute flash mob entertainment extravaganza to ring in the 2017 holiday season. This is the 5th, and ostensibly final flash mob the Band intends to create – at least for the foreseeable future.

This year’s flash mob was the most complex and ambitious endeavor yet. Singers and instrumentalists were scattered throughout the multi-tiered atrium at the Gaylord National Harbor, with all eyes focused on Col. Lang at the center of the stage. Because of the cavernous nature of the venue, select members of the group were outfitted with wireless, in-ear monitors which piped in a recording of the music and a “click track” to help the band stay aligned. Additional band members were tasked with filming the production, and deftly tiptoed their way throughout the maze of performers.

Once the live performance was completed, USAF Band production team members got to work, cranking out the final product in a coffee and pizza fueled marathon throughout the night. With already thousands of views, we hope you’ll be able to help our latest flash mob video go viral, into the millions and beyond!
