Technical Sgt. David González, Jr. is a trombonist with The Ceremonial Brass, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C.
Originally from Brownsville, Texas, he joined the United States Air Force in 2014 as a member of the Air Force Band of Mid America in Scott Air Force Base. In 2018, González won his position as associate principal trombonist of The United States Air Force Concert Band and then in 2024, he became a member of the Ceremonial Brass.
González completed the majority of his coursework for a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree (D.M.A.) at the University of Georgia, focusing on Trombone Performance and Pedagogy with a minor in conducting. He earned his doctorate at The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. González also holds a Master of Music (M.M.) in Trombone Performance, a Master of Music in Brass Pedagogy from Ohio University, and a Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Trombone Performance from The University of Texas at Austin.
Prior to joining the Air Force, González performed with the Ludwig Symphony Orchestra, River Cities Symphony Orchestra, and the Ohio Valley Symphony Orchestra. González has also performed as a show-band musician for Carnival Cruise Lines. In 2014, he participated in the Alessi Seminar held in Fossano, Italy. Additionally, he has served as the adjunct professor of trombone at McKendree University and at Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.
His primary teachers include Dr. Josh Bynum, Dr. Chris Hayes, Mr. Andy Millat, Dr. Nathanial Brickens, Mr. Joe Manzano, and Mr. Adam Kramer. González lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife, two children, and seven beloved trombones.
