Staff Sergeant Brian Logan

Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Brian Logan performs with the United States Air Force (USAF) Heritage of America Band on euphonium with the Heritage Brass, Concert Band, and Ceremonial Band.  His current administrative responsibilities include working as the operations representative for Heritage Brass and Charge of Quarters member. His responsibilities include overseeing the concert schedule and operations of the 11-piece brass and percussion group, touring a 15 state area of responsibility.  Previously, SSgt Logan has worked in publicity, productions, readiness, and as music director of the Heritage Brass.
 
SSgt Logan earned his Bachelor of Music Degree in Euphonium Performance in 2012 from the University of Alabama, where he studied with Demondrae Thurman.  In 2014, he earned his Master of Music Degree from Northwestern University, studying with Rex Martin.   In 2018, he completed his Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Frost School of Music at University of Miami with Aaron Tindall.  He completed his Associate’s Degree at Air University in 2019. Through international competitions, masterclasses, and private study, SSgt Logan has worked with acclaimed artists including Steven Mead, David Childs, Brian Bowman, Tormod Flaten, Don Palmire, Oystein Baadsvik, and Gene Pokorny. He was the first euphonium soloist invited to perform on National Public Radio's broadcast "From the Top."  While completing school he performed with the Huxford Symphony Orchestra, Southwest Florida Symphony Orchestra, South Florida Symphony, Florida Grand Opera, and the Civic Orchestra of Chicago.  SSgt Logan has performed in the Leonard Falcone Artist Euphonium Competition and the International Tuba Euphonium Conference Artist Competition Solo and Mock Military Band segments multiple times. He was also a winner of the Birmingham Music Club Guild Fellowship. SSgt Logan published “A Comparative Analysis of Techniques of Euphonium and Vocal Performance Using Acoustical Properties” through the University of Miami Press in December 2018.
