Master Sgt. Benjamin Thomas is the bassist with the Airmen of Note. The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Windsor, Connecticut, his career in the Air Force began in 2014 when he was assigned to The USAF Band of the Golden West at Travis AFB in California. In 2016, Thomas joined the USAF Europe Band in Ramstein, Germany and served there until 2020 when he joined the USAF Band in Washington, D.C.
Before joining the Air Force, Thomas was an adjunct professor at SUNY Oswego, 2011 through 2012 and served as adjunct professor at Mannheim University of Music in Germany, 2019. In 2012 Thomas performed with the Gil Evans Ensemble, led by Ryan Truesdell, at the Umbria Jazz Festival in Perugia, Italy. He has performed with jazz and improvised music innovators such as Ari Hoenig, Tony Malaby, Ted Poor, and Clay Jenkins.
