Technical Sgt. Melissa Griffith is a vocalist with the United States Air Force Band of the West, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas. She performs with multiple teams across a seven-state and two-territory area of responsibility. Additionally, she has served her 61-member unit as Full-Time Additional Duty First Sergeant and Section Chief, Administrative Support.
Sergeant Griffith enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in January 2017. Uplon completion of Basic Military Training, she was assigned to the U.S. Air Force Band of Mid-America at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois. She has since performed hundreds of missions reaching millions across America, Egypt, Lebanon, Oman, Bahrain, and Kyrgyzstan, performing proficiently in Spanish, Egyptian Arabic, Dari and Farsi. Additionally, she led a video production team to design a short-form video production which won a Mid-America Regional Emmy Award.
Sergeant Griffith deployed in 2023 in support of Operations INHERENT RESOLVE and SPARTAN SHIELD, managing operations for the Air Forces Central Band to strengthen relationships across the Central Command area of responsibility. She extended her deployment three months to work in a developmental duty with Air Forces Central Public Affairs, assisting in three Best Crisis Communication award wins.
Prior to joining the Air Force, Sgt. Griffith had the privilege of performing professionally in musicals across the continental United States, sharing the stage with artists such as Shirley Jones and Tony Award winner Beth Leavel.
