Staff Sergeant Derrick Newbold serves as a Saxophonist for the USAF Band of Mid-America, Scott AFB, IL. Previously he was a member of the USAF Band of the Pacific starting in February, 2016.
Originally hailing from Miami, Florida, Sergeant Newbold pursued a Masters of Music in Jazz Studies from Michigan State University. In addition to his academic pursuits, SSgt Newbold studied with renowned artists Diego Rivera, Rodney Whitaker, Mike Brignola, Etienne Charles, and Xavier Davis.
