Staff Sergeant Rachael Colman

Staff Sergeant (SSgt) Rachael Colman, a native of Friendswood, TX, serves as a vocalist in the United State Air Force (USAF) Heritage of America Band. SSgt Colman has had the pleasure of performing with the Air Force for audiences throughout the Northeast. While frequently requested to render ceremonial musical honors both on and off military installations, she was also privileged to perform the very first recorded National Anthem used by the Airman Leadership School at Langley AFB, used to meet social distancing protocols during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the summer of 2021, she deployed with the rock band Full Spectrum to help reestablish the AFCENT Band mission post-pandemic. After the ensemble's return stateside, she had the great honor of performing or Afghan evacuees relocated to the U.S in support of Operation ALLIES REFUGE.

Prior to joining the United States Air Force, SSgt Colman traveled the country as a freelance chorister, performing with such acclaimed choral ensembles as the Santa Fe Desert Chorale (Santa Fe, NM), the Handel and Haydn Society (Boston, MA), True Concord (Tucson, AZ), and Spire Chamber Ensemble (Kansas City, MO). She was a founding member of Chorosynthesis (Seattle, WA), a choir dedicated to advocating for social justice through the performance of new music. She can be heard on Chorosynthesis’s first CD recording, Empowering Silenced Voices. SSgt Colman’s performances have taken her to Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center in New York City, Symphony Hall in Boston, Helzburg Hall and the historic Folly Theater in Kansas City, and the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, and in 2017 she was selected from a worldwide pool of applicants to participate in the Tallis Scholars Workshop at Carnegie Hall. SSgt Colman holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Voice from Baylor University and a Master of Music degree in Opera from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, where she studied with Dr. Robert Best and Dr. Aidan Soder respectively.
