Master Sergeant Jeremy D. Buss

Master Sergeant Jeremy Buss is the principal French Hornist and Operations Manager for the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast. Originally from Nazareth, Pennsylvania, his Air Force career began in 1996.

Master Sergeant Buss graduated from Nazareth Area High School in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in French Horn Performance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Indiana, Pennsylvania. He is the bassist with High Altitude and The Guardsmen combo, performs on French Horn with the Brass In Blue Brass Quintet, and is the Unit's Ceremonial Piper. Has he deployed numerous times with both ensembles both CONUS and OCONUS. He has also performed as a featured French Horn soloist every few years, delighting audiences with classic French Horn literature with the Concert Band from composers such a Robert Schumann, Carl Maria von Weber and Richard Strauss.

Master Sergeant Buss currently resides in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He serves as an Information Technology Generalist at the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. An accomplished freelance musician, he performs regularly throughout the Central Pennsylvania Area. He spent 4 years as an Adjunct Professor of Music with the Messiah College Music Department, working with both Music Major and Non-Major Horn students and forming the college's French Horn performance ensemble. He currently leads his own professional Brass Quintet, and has played with many local ensembles, theatres and production companies, including the Greater Harrisburg Concert Band, the Central Pennsylvania Symphony, Theatre Harrisburg, Twin Valley Players, Donegal Performing Arts Society, and nearly every High School in the Central Pennsylvania area with a Spring Musical program.

Master Sergeant Buss enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1996, joining the Air National Guard Band of the Northeast while he was still in college at IUP. He is a graduate of Airman Leadership School, McGhee-Tyson AFB, Knoxville, Tennessee, where he was chosen as the Levitow Award recipient. He also completed the Noncommissioned Officer Leadership Correspondence course.

Master Sergeant Buss' awards and decorations include the Air Force Commendation medal with one oak leaf cluster, Air Force Achievement medal with one oak leaf cluster, Army Achievement Medal, Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with four oak leaf clusters, the Air Reserve Forces Meritorious Service Medal with four oak leaf clusters, the Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Air Force Longevity Service Award with two oak leaf clusters, the Armed Forces Reserve Medal with bronze hourglass and 'M' device, and the Pennsylvania Governor's Unit Citation.
