Air Force band featured in Ho'Okele Pearl Harbor Hickam News

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam is home to the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific-Hawaii, and its members will be featured in several upcoming concerts across Oahu.
Chief Master Sgt. Laura Noel, the U.S. Air Force Band of the Pacific-Hawaii's band manager, said, "We have a lot of performances coming up that showcase our different groups, featuring a wide variety of styles of music, from rock and country, to R&B and jazz. These concerts support our military community here on Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, local communities on Oahu and Hawaiian Islands as well as the PACOM AOR" [ Pacific Command Area of Responsibility].
The band's history goes back more than 30 years ago when Hickam was home to the 501st Air Force Band. The 35-piece unit performed for base and community functions from 1947 to 1975. During the draw down following the Vietnam War, the band was deactivated. However, in 1995, a need was seen to bring an Air Force band back to the Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, and the United States Air Force Band of the Pacific-Hawaii was born.
