Band to perform at Arts Alive! Festival
Featuring a diverse set of selections, the Concert Band will be showcasing trumpet soloist Technical Sgt. Kris Westrich playing Alexander Artunian's "Concerto for Trumpet." The full Concert Band will feature two movements of Gustav Holst's popular work "The Planets," to include "Jupiter" and "Mercury." The first half of the program will also feature an original composition titled "Time Travels" by our very own Senior Master Sgt. Robert Thurston. On the second half of the program, the audience will be taken to "A Night at the Opera," featuring four soloists from the Singing Sergeants as they serenade concertgoers with popular arias from some of history's best known operatic works, including selections from Bizet's "Carmen" and Verdi's "Rigoletto." As always, patriotic selections will be featured as a part of the program.
"Arts Alive!" is sponsored by the Prince William County Arts council and strives to promote and support local artists and arts organizations, as well as enlighten and educate audiences about the arts in the Greater Prince William Area. The U.S. Air Force Concert Band will present the closing event of the festival.
The concert is a free, non-ticketed event and open to the public. We hope to see you there!
