Master Sgt. David M. McDonald is a drummer with the Airmen of Note, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. Originally from Decatur, Illinois, his career in the Air Force began in 2006.

Before joining the Air Force, he performed with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, Chicago Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra, Fulcrum Point New Music Ensemble, and the New World Symphony Orchestra. Additionally, he was a member of the 2005 Pacific Music Festival Orchestra and the 2002 Disneyland All-American College Band.

A graduate of DePaul University, McDonald received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance in 2005. Prior to joining the Air Force, he began graduate school at the New England Conservatory of Music. He later completed his studies at the Catholic University of America and received a Master’s Degree in Music Performance in 2014.
