The U.S. Air Force Band celebrates “The Spirit of the Season”

The holiday season is almost here! Join The U.S. Air Force Band this December for our "Spirit of the Season" concerts, this year in two different venues.

We are delighted to kick off this series on Dec. 1 with an 8 p.m. performance at the beautiful Music Center at Strathmore in Bethesda, Maryland. But, not to worry--if you can't make it out to Strathmore, we will also be presenting holiday concerts on Dec. 12 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. at DAR Constitution Hall in downtown Washington, D.C. As part of the Constitution Hall concerts, we are pleased to welcome back members of the Virginia Ballet Company to perform with The U.S. Air Force Band on several pieces.

This year's holiday concerts also feature the Airmen of Note as part of a special 70th Anniversary "In a Holiday Mood" salute to our World War II era veterans.

"We always look forward to celebrating the holidays with the National Capital Region community, as we share the joy and hope of the season through music, and remember those serving all around the globe protecting our freedoms," said Col. Larry H. Lang, Commander and Conductor of The U.S. Air Force Band. "This year's program is dedicated to the service men and women from the 'Greatest Generation,' who 70 years ago this year secured the hard-won victory that ended World War II."

Come out to hear your holiday favorites, along with a carol sing-along and other beloved Air Force Band seasonal traditions. There's nothing like hearing Leroy Anderson's "Sleigh Ride," "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer" and "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town" to put you in the holiday mood. And who knows? Maybe old Saint Nick himself will make an early appearance!

This time of year is all about tradition and bringing people together. In keeping with this, we are thrilled to partner with the Smithsonian Holiday Festival again this year. Join members of the Singing Sergeants at the National Museum of American History on Dec. 5 and 6, and see Max Impact at the National Air and Space Museum on Dec. 6.
