A Tour Like No Other: Col Larry H. Lang returns home on Final Concert Tour

The Concert Band and Singing Sergeants are traveling through New Mexico and Texas on their 2018 Fall Tour Oct. 16-27.

For the Band's commander, Col. Larry H. Lang, this is his final concert tour and a homecoming all in one. Lang grew up in El Paso, Texas, and he attended college at New Mexico State University.

This tour is also special for other members of the Band who are either from Texas or attended schools in Texas. On the fourth evening performance, the Band will be hosted by the Band's former commander and conductor, Colonel (ret.) Lowell E. Graham.

Musical highlights will feature soloists who attended schools in Texas, including Senior Master Sgt. Blake Arrington, who attended the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas.

"It's exciting to be able to return to an area where I spent so much time as a student and teacher," Arrington said. "I can't wait to perform this extremely difficult concerto on the stage at UNT where I spent so many hours in rehearsals, concerts and recording sessions."

Other featured soloists include the trombone section from the concert band, and the Singing Sergeants who will perform a number of featured a cappella selections.

Concerts are free and open to the public, and tickets are required at most venues. All vacant seats are released to non-ticket holders 15 minutes before show time, so you can still see us even if you aren’t able to get tickets.

We look forward to seeing you at one of our concerts!
