Conductor Emeritus Receives High Honor

  • Published
Colonel Arnold D. Gabriel, Conductor Emeritus of The United States Air Force Band, has been named Chevalier of the Legion of Honor. The Legion of Honor is France's highest distinction and is bestowed upon Col. Gabriel as a sign of gratitude for his personal contribution to that nation's liberation during World War II.

A ceremony to honor and present this award to American veterans on behalf of the President of the French Republic will take place on Thursday, November 10. This prestigious award will be presented by France's Consul General in Washington D.C.

The French Government has expressed its deep gratitude to Col. Gabriel for his courage. The Air Force Band echoes that appreciation. As Veterans Day approaches, we are reminded to be forever grateful to the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for the freedoms we enjoy.
