While also able to perform pop and rock favorites, Papana adds an extra element of swing and Latin music to its programs, furthering the Band of the Pacific’s versatile range of capabilities. Papana represents a long lineage of Air Force bands, all the way back to the late great band leader and composer, Major Glenn Miller. Its mission deviates very little from Miller’s original vision: to build morale, bring a touch of home to troops, and modernize military music. The eclectic musical selections that are inspired by Papana's jazz and Latin roots have managed to dazzle audiences from Hawaii to Singapore and Alaska to Australia.
