Staff Sergeant Claude Lumley

Staff Sergeant Claude Lumley comes from an Air Force family and spent most of his high school years in San Antonio, Texas.  Before auditioning for the USAF in October 2018, he lived in Houston for two years freelancing and teaching in the Houston area all while also pursuing a Doctoral in Musical Arts degree at the University of Houston. Prior to his Doctoral studies Sgt. Lumley served in the 392nd Army Band stationed at Ft. Lee, Virginia as a Horn player and audio engineer. His primary Horn instructors have included Bill VerMuelen, Robert Johnson, Peter Kurau, Jeffrey Powers, Jay Feree and Michael Gast. Sgt. Lumley has performed with artists in varying genres such as Indigo Girls, Lee Greenwood, Mac Powell and Wintley Phipps: in shows and musicals such as Cirque du Soleil, Oklahoma and Jurassic Park in Concert: and in orchestral and operatic works with the Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, San Antonio Symphony, Richmond Symphony, Louisiana Philharmonic and Mobile Symphony. Sgt. Lumley also records for Film and TV, can be heard in international commercials and in the soundtrack of the international Bollywood release Gangubai Kathiawadi.

For the Air Force Sgt. Lumley has worked as music director of a music performance team, broadcast engineer, audio engineer, videographer, photographer, video productions technician, and social media technician. Sgt. Lumley performs with the Band of Mid America’s concert & ceremonial band and with the woodwind quintet, Midwest Winds.
