Senior Master Sergeant Brian Wahrlich

Senior Master Sgt. Brian Wahrlich is a clarinetist with the Concert Band, The United States Air Force Band, Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling, Washington, D.C. A native of Albany, New York, he began his career in the Air Force in 2011.

In 2006, Sgt. Wahrlich received a Bachelor of Music degree, as well as a Performer's Certificate, from the Eastman School of Music where he studied with Jon Manasse. In 2008 he was awarded a Master of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music.

Prior to joining the Air Force, Sgt. Wahrlich served as principal clarinetist of the Orquesta Sinfónica Sinaloa de las Artes, Culiacán, Mexico. He has also performed with the New World Symphony and the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a substitute musician with the Richmond Symphony, Palm Beach Symphony, Glens Falls Symphony Orchestra and the Slee Sinfonietta in Buffalo, New York. Sgt. Wahrlich has held positions on faculty at the Eastman School of Music (ECMS), the Hochstein School of Music and Dance and as professor of clarinet at the Nazareth College of Rochester. He made his solo debut performing Maslanka's Clarinet Concerto, "Desert Roads," with the Eastman Wind Ensemble in February 2007. He has also recorded multiple CD's for Bridge Records, of which "Barcelonazo," Music for Orchestra by Jorge Liderman, was nominated for a 2008 Latin Grammy Award.
