Senior Master Sgt. Taylor Armstrong is the Enlisted Conductor, Pianist, and Superintendent of the Singing Sergeants and the Superintendent of Max Impact. A native of Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, he joined The United States Air Force Band in 2005.
Sgt. Armstrong has performed as a soloist with the Baltimore Opera Company, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Concert Artists of Baltimore, Da Camera Singers, Annapolis Opera, Summer Opera Theater in Washington, D.C., Handel Choir of Baltimore, and the Baltimore Chamber Symphony. His career honors include an Apprentice Artist position with the Santa Fe Opera, a Fellowship in Vocal Chamber Music at the Aspen Music Festival, a Young Artist position with the Juilliard Opera Center, and first prize in the Bach Society of Baltimore's Vocal Scholarship Competition. He performed for three years in the Bach Vespers Series at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in New York City and was formerly a member of the voice faculty at Rutgers University, Shepherd University and Morgan State University.
Sgt. Armstrong earned a Bachelor of Music in voice performance at Susquehanna University where he was an Isaacs Scholar and a student of Nina Tober. At the Peabody Conservatory in Baltimore, he earned a Master of Music and a Graduate Performance Diploma in voice. While at Peabody he was a scholarship student of John Shirley-Quirk, winner of the George Woodhead Prize, and recipient of the Douglas and Hilda Perl Goodwin Endowed Scholarship for Opera.
