SSgt. Jared M. Andrews joined the United States Air Force Academy Band in June 2012. He currently performs on upright and electric bass with the Falconaires and Concert Band as well as sousaphone with the Marching Band. In addition to his musical responsibilities SSgt Andrews also works in the unit’s supply shop.
Prior to his enlistment, SSgt Andrews earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Jazz Double Bass Performance from Valdosta State University in 2008, followed shortly thereafter by his Master of Arts degree in Jazz Studies from Florida State University in 2010. During his tenure at FSU, he was a graduate teaching assistant and directed FSU’s Jazz Ensemble III. He has proudly studied his craft with such teachers as Rodney Jordan, Donovan Stokes, Marcus Roberts, Paul McKee, Leon Anderson, Bill Peterson and David Springfield. SSgt Andrews has also had the privilege to share the stage with Chuck Israels, Martin Bejarano and Walt Weiskopf.
