Joint Base Langley-Eustis, VA - Oct 2, 2014 - Airman First Class Emily Wheaton, a native of Park City, Utah, is featured on a new documentary video "Promises," produced by The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band, highlighting the excellence of Airman-Musicians.
A bassist within the USAF Band program, A1C Wheaton composed an original jazz work "Promises," which is featured on the 12-minute video.  The work captures her heartfelt feelings towards her older brother, a United States Army veteran, as he prepared for and departed on several deployments.  According to Airman Wheaton, "My hope is that [the video] will aid people in understanding not just what we as Airmen go through, but what our family members go through.  I have had a unique experience that has allowed me to see both sides, and I can confirm most definitely, that our families serve right alongside us.  They need just as much support as we do when times get tough."   Featured along with A1C Wheaton are three other Airmen, Staff Sergeant Brian Connolly on alto saxophone, Senior Airman Alberto Rosado-Perez on guitar, and Technical Sergeant Ed Williams on drums.
The production is part of the "Sessions at Crawford Hall" videos, produced to feature how USAF Airman-Musicians are completing the band's mission to inspire Americans, honor US Military veterans, and recruit future leaders for the USAF.  The videos are available for easy viewing on the "USAF Heritage of America Band" YouTube channel and on other social media.
The United States Air Force Heritage of America Band has a rich history of inspiring hearts and minds, building and sustaining American patriotism, honoring our military service veterans, and enhancing esprit de corps in the United States Air Force.  Stationed at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, the Heritage of America Band has been featured in such events such as NBC's "The Today Show," the DESERT STORM National Victory Parade, The MLB World Series, NFL games, and NASCAR. The Heritage of America Band has performed ceremonies for U.S presidents and foreign heads of state, including the Queen of England and the President of France. The band travels more than 150,000 miles annually to perform hundreds of concerts for listeners across a fifteen-state region from Maine to South Carolina and reaches a world-wide audience through its website, social media and audio recordings.
