Williamsburg, VA - Merchants Square and Colonial Williamsburg present "Support and Defend" featuring the USAF Heritage of American Band in performance Thursday, September 17 at 7 p.m. in a musical tribute to our nation's cherished founding document, the U.S. Constitution. Through powerful, moving music and spoken word, the framework of our nation's government will be celebrated and honored on the anniversary of its adoption.
Special guest musicians from the Fifes and Drums of Colonial Williamsburg and guest narrators Raymond Jones of WHRO and Colonial Williamsburg interpreter George Washington will also be a part of this free outdoor event, held on Duke of Gloucester Street in Merchants Square, an 18th-century-style retail village adjacent to the Colonial Williamsburg Historic Area. Audience members are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and arrive early for best viewing of this exciting event.
The Heritage of America Band has a long history of entertaining the American public and promoting esprit de corps within the military. Stationed at Langley AFB, VA, the unit strives to inspire the hearts and minds of our men and women serving around the world and to tell the Air Force story through the power of music. Consisting of several unique musical ensembles, the Heritage of America Band performs for over one million people throughout a six-state region from Pennsylvania to South Carolina each year.
Established in 1926, the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, www.history.org, is the not-for-profit educational institution that preserves and operates the restored 18th-century Revolutionary capital of Virginia as a town-sized living history museum, telling the inspirational stories of our nation's founding men and women.
This exciting and important event is an opportunity for all of us to honor our Constitution and remember its importance in the governing of our great country.
